Whether it’s an annual Toys for Tots or Food Bank drive, a one-time relief effort in response to a natural disaster, or a chance to provide work experience to young adults who might not otherwise have such an opportunity, Vertrue takes community involvement very seriously.

To help consumers combat rising healthcare costs, Vertrue Incorporated (VTRU) has donated $15 million in prescription drug savings cards to needy families across the United States since 2005, following an initial distribution of $1 million worth of discount pharmacy cards in 2005. These cards, which normally retail for $29.95, can reduce prescription drug costs by an average of 20 percent at a network of more than 40,000 pharmacies across the country, including national chains as well as local pharmacies.

The cards, issued by Vertrue's Coverdell & Company Inc., subsidiary, are now being distributed through participating Feed the Children agencies across the United States.

"Vertrue is proud to be able to increase our commitment to families who need a helping hand with prescription drug costs," said Gary Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vertrue. "By distributing the cards through charitable organizations nationwide, we're able to reach out to the families who struggle the most with the cost of prescription medication."

Vertrue's prescription drug savings cards can be used as often as cardholders wish — there are absolutely no usage maximums. And the cardholder's entire household (defined as spouses and children under 23 years of age residing in the household) can take advantage of the savings provided by the card; any such family member can simply show the card during checkout at any participating pharmacy to receive a guaranteed discount off the retail price for any prescription.

In addition to savings on prescription drugs, cardholders can save 20 to 60 percent on eye care needs, including prescription lenses, frames, contacts and sunglasses.

The savings available through Vertrue's discount pharmacy cards are substantial. The average savings on a prescription drug purchase, for instance, is 20 percent, and the average savings for people who use their card at a network vision care center is $91.00 per visit. Clearly, such discounts can amount to significant annual savings for many Americans.

Vertrue Incorporated is proud of its efforts to make healthcare needs more affordable to the neediest U.S. citizens. We look forward to working with a variety of non-profit organizations to help make prescription drugs and other health-related items and services accessible to all Americans.
